Hello!
We’re Rich and Sue – two 30 somethings (ssh!) living and working in London needing to escape the city.
Earlier this year, we got married in Ireland and spent a lot of time thinking about how we wanted to celebrate our honeymoon and our first year of married life together.
We started off thinking about a three-week holiday to tick a few places off our bucket lists but our shortlist of possible locations quickly escalated and we realised three weeks was never going to satisfy our cravings for travel…
We wanted and needed an adventure!
The week after realising this, we both bit the bullet and asked our bosses, “how would you feel about me having three months off?” After the inevitable shock wore off, we were lucky – both our bosses said yes. Now eight months later, we sit writing this with just a week to go (eek) before we put on our backpacks, switch on the out of office and escape the city for an epic adventure.
As novice long-term travellers, we’ve learnt a lot planning this trip and know we’ll learn even more while we’re away. We hope the things we get right and even more the inevitable mistakes, will be useful to someone else planning the same sort of adventure.
